Description

Panattoni Park Heerlen is leased to JD Sports. The distribution centre is being built according to the BREEAM 'Very Good' standards. Completion is expected early 2024. GXO will be in charge of all of JD Sports' omni-channel distribution management - for all of its European markets - from this location in the South of the Netherlands.

Heerlen is an important logistic gateway to many European markets. Therefore, this JD Sports' distribution centre will act as a central hub for all JD Sports activities in mainland Europe. The distribution centre will be equipped with the latest technologies and IT solutions. There is space for future expansion.

Jeroen Gerritsen, General Manager of Panattoni Nederland: 'This former industrial site has been cleaned up and redeveloped. The old factory has been replaced by a sustainable and future-proof distribution centre for GXO and JD Sports. The recyclable materials from the old building - like the concrete and bricks - have been processed and re-used in the new building. The design of the building has taken the well-being of its employees into account - through optimal lighting and constant supply of fresh air. Naturally, the centre does not use gas: energy will be generated through the solar panels installed on the entire roof - in collaboration with Sunrock. This solar energy plant will not only provide energy to the building, but also to 2,000 households in the surrounding areas.'

The building covers approximately 70,000 m2, consisting of more than 60,000 m2 of warehousing space, 6,500 m2 of mezzanine space and more than 1,600 m2 of office space.

JD Sports has approximately 3,000 stores in 32 countries, with a strong presence in Europe. The company expects a strong and continued future growth in both retail and e-commerce. Hence its partnership with GXO for its omni-channel support and distribution in Europe.
