Panattoni is preparing a second logistics project in Zaragoza with 14,000 sqm of GLA
Madrid, 29 June 2021 - Panattoni, Europe's leading logistics-industrial real estate developer, has announced the acquisition of a new plot of land in the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (better known as PLAZA), close to Zaragoza Airport, for the development of a new logistics project. This new building, which will be built at risk, has a plot of more than 25,600 sqm, on which it will be possible to develop both a flexible building of 14,000 sqm for one client, and a multi-tenant building with several warehouses of between 2,500 and 4,500 sqm each, depending on the needs. The delivery date is scheduled for the second quarter of 2022.
Panattoni continues to diversify its developments in different areas of our country. This new project will be located next to other important platforms such as BSH, Inditex and Pikolin. The industrial park has direct access from the A-2, providing very good connections to the Spanish motorway network, and stands out for its proximity to one of the airports with the highest volume of operations in Spain. Zaragoza’s airport is becoming more important every year according to available data: it was the second in cargo in 2020 with 143,600 tonnes, even ahead of Barcelona-El Prat airport.
The company's second project in Zaragoza will be flexible, and it will have the latest technological innovations, 16 loading docks for trucks, 56 for vans, a photovoltaic plant, a charging station for electric vehicles, as well as a fire prevention system in accordance with NFPA standards. The flexibility it offers will also allow this project to combine cross-dock activity for the last mile, in order to improve the delivery of orders in an area where world leaders in e-Commerce begin to operate in the upcoming months. In this sense, the building will have large outdoor areas and a large manoeuvring area 39 metres wide, above the industry standard, which is around 32 metres. The rest of the unbuilt plot will be used as a car park for the allocation and delivery of orders, and will have more than 40 spaces for cars.
"The PLAZA industrial park is a key place for the sector in our market, even more with the significant increase in goods arriving through its airport," said Gustavo Cardozo, Panattoni's Managing Director for Spain and Portugal, who added that "it will be a flexible project that will also be able to meet last-mile needs".
As usual in Panattoni's projects, the building will have BREEAM "Very good" energy certification, and will have several applications in order to make the building a sustainable and environmentally friendly project. To this end, photovoltaic panels with an output of 100kw will be installed on 300 sqm of installations and intelligent LED lighting will be used to operate as required.
