Panattoni will develop a new logistics project with 9,500 sqm of GLA in Getafe, Madrid
Madrid, 6 July 2021 -Panattoni, Europe's leading logistics-industrial real estate developer, continues its expansion in Spain with the acquisition of a new plot of land in the ‘La Carpetania Industrial Park’, in Getafe (Madrid). The plot has a surface area of 17,000 sqm on which the company will develop a 9,500 sqm gross rentable area platform. The logistics park will be built at risk and its completion is scheduled for the summer of 2022.
The company expands its portfolio entering one of Spain's traditional logistics hubs, Madrid. This project in the Spanish capital is Panattoni's commitment to urban regeneration and brownfields in cities like Getafe, which have privileged locations in old unused or obsolete industrial plots. The warehouse will be located just 14 km from the centre of Madrid, which is an exceptional location within the first ring of the city. Panattoni’s first project in the Community of Madrid will have direct access to the A4, which will allow the delivery to the capital in a very agile way.
The development will meet the highest quality standards and will be designed to be flexible and able to accommodate any type of industrial logistics activity. It will also be designed to adapt to the increasingly demanding requirements of companies that serve the city of Madrid and have last-mile logistics needs. The building will have 9 loading docks for trucks, and another 12 for vans, to speed up and optimise delivery tasks. The rest of the unbuilt plot will be used for the development of a large car park for the allocation and delivery of orders.
The development will be aligned with the company's 'Lean & Green' plan and will be subjected to BREEAM certification. The project will feature plenty of innovations in terms of sustainability and environmental protection, such as the installation of photovoltaic panels and a charging station for electric vehicles. It will also have intelligent LED lighting, as well as natural ventilation and state-of-the-art fire protection systems, among other solutions.
"We are very pleased to start this new project in the Community of Madrid. This development is a commitment of the company to urban regeneration. Our aim is to renew places that have become outdated but have privileged locations, such as Getafe, due to the limited availability of land in these areas," said Gustavo Cardozo, Panattoni's Managing Director for Spain and Portugal, who added that "Panattoni works to develop projects in key markets in Spain, but always with the idea of preserving the environment and promoting sustainability in the sector"
