Panattoni Europe for Castorama Polska again – 100,000 sqm in Stryków

Panattoni Europe, Poland’s leader in the industrial space market, is to build another distribution centre for Castorama Polska. The project, one of the biggest in Poland, will be delivered in Stryków. Contruction works will commence later this April, and the lease was mediated by experts from JLL.

Panattoni Europe for Castorama Polska one more time. The developer will build a 100,000-square-metre distribution centre for the DIY/home improvement market leader. Warehouse space will account for as much as 98.5 per cent of the entire space, while office and staff facilities will take up 1,450 sqm and will be adapted for the planned headcount of 300 employees. The investment will be delivered in Stryków and will proceed in two stages – with the first accounting for 50,000 sqm to be completed by the end of 2017. Construction works will commence later this April. The project was defined with the concepts of sustainable development in mind, e.g. in order to reduce energy consumption it will feature innovative LED lighting with motion sensors. The contract was mediated by experts from JLL.

The decision by Castorama Polska to pursue a new distribution centre is a consequence of the continuous development of the chain and its auxiliary logistics facilities. The company finished last year with a 10% sales growth and increased market share, and further growth of Castorama Polska is connected with the implementation of the current strategy of the Kingfisher Group – “One Kingfisher”. In line with its assumptions, all companies within the group work together e.g. in terms of the supply chain, to provide customers in all the countries with the best possible products and services related to home building, improvement and decoration as well as garden arrangement.

The most recent investment for Castorama Polska is the second to be delivered by Panattoni Europe – the first, with 50,000 sqm, was also built in Stryków. Robert Dobrzycki, Chief Executive Officer Europe, Panattoni Europe, comments: “We are glad that the leading DYI/home improvement retail chain, that is Castorama Polska, has come back to us to reinforce its supply chain. The development of the first central warehouse for this company in Stryków turned out to be a very good solution. Its location in the very centre of Poland, at the intersection of the most important transport routes, is perfectly suited to the needs of the company, which operates in a number of regions across the country and requires access to fast international road connections, too. The establishment of another distribution centre right here to support further growth of the business is an understandable decision.”

“The new distribution centre will address our growing needs related to the strategy of joint purchasing for the Kingfisher Group, which means that we are working together with suppliers from Poland as well as those from many other parts of the world. Thanks to this warehouse, we will also be able to better fulfil our commitment to the customers – to provide them with the best possible product availability and attractive prices” – says Krzysztof Maśny, Supply Chain Executive at Castorama Polska.

The location of the new investment for Castorama Polska is not random. The distribution centre will be built in Stryków – one of the top locations on Poland’s warehousing map. The proximity of Łódź, as well as major transportation routes – a motorway junction on the A2 (Stryków II), and the road no 71 (Zgierz-Stryków) near the national road no 14 (Warsaw-Łódź) – all mean that the new warehouse will enjoy excellent connections with the rest of the country. At the same time, with Łódź less than twenty kilometres way, the facility will be able to make the most of the abundant local labour pool.
