Poland gets its first nomination for the Best Industrial & Logistics Development in MIPIM Awards. Panattoni Europe is competing for the title with its BTS Amazon in Kołbaskowo near Szczecin. Completed in 2017, the developer’s flagship project was selected by the jury sitting in Paris. As many as 227 facilities from 55 countries were entered, and the other shortlisted contenders for the Best Industrial & Logistics Development title are technologically advanced projects from Luxembourg, China and France. Robert Dobrzycki, Chief Executive Officer Europe Panattoni Europe, comments: “To be nominated in the final round of MIPIM Awards 2018 is an unprecedented honour for us, especially as this is the first time a project from Poland will be competing for the title of the best industrial and logistics development. Finding ourselves in such a small and prestigious group is already a success for us. It would not have been possible without dynamic market growth, transformation of logistics and industrial processes and the boom of e-commerce, and therefore of Amazon, which placed its trust in our professionalism.”

The order fulfilment centre for Amazon is a Panattoni Europe development dedicated to online retail. The facility with total useful floor area of 161,500 sqm was erected in Kołbaskowo in the space of ten months and is one of the most advanced projects worldwide. More than 3,000 robots have been put in place to support the employees, using Amazon Robotics technology. For the purposes of the technology, the facility reached a height of 17 m and was divided into 3 storeys, all with a view to optimising logistics processes. The investment was developed in compliance with the requirements of BREEAM environmental certification. The developer and the investor are looking to obtain the VERY GOOD rating.

The internationally-renowned MIPIM Awards have been organised since 1991 to honour the best built and planned projects from around the world. The competition accompanies the international MIPIM fair in Cannes – the biggest and most prestigious event on the real estate market, attended by developers, agents, advisors, architects, municipal authorities and representatives of investment funds from all the continents. The awards ceremony, during which the winners will be announced, is scheduled to take place on 15 March at Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
