Hall of Fame awards for Panattoni and its BTS Amazon project in Gliwice – Best Warehouse Development in Central Europe. HOF AWARDS have been announced.

Panattoni, market leader in industrial real estate in Europe, picks up another award. The developer’s record-breaking BTS facility for Amazon in Gliwice, with 210,000 sqm across four storeys, has been recognised as the Best Warehouse Development in Central and Eastern Europe in the fifth edition of the HOF Awards organised by the CIJ monthly.

The fifth edition of CIJ’s HOF Awards is underway. On 26-29 May 2020, this year exceptionally on a webinar site, the winning projects of CIJ Awards compete to be recognised as the best of the best – and win a place in the Hall of Fame. This year’s entries are projects from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia. The title of the Best Warehouse Development in Central and Eastern Europe has gone to the BTS facility for Amazon developed by Panattoni in Gliwice.

Best of the best. The investment in Gliwice is Panattoni’s eighth project developed for Amazon. Delivered in the BTS formula, it is 317 m long, 182 m wide and 26.7 m high. Apart from its enormous size – 210,000 sqm (including 7,500 sqm of office space) – the building also boasts 4 functional storeys fitted with cutting-edge solutions. They are extremely useful when serving the fast-growing e-commerce market. Amazon Robotics technologies, employing 3,900 transport robots, assist in storing products on shelves and order picking operations. Such an approach not only significantly contributes to maximising warehouse capacity, but also helps cut down shipping lead times. The Gliwice facility is the largest building of Amazon in Poland using this technology.

In the words of Marek Dobrzycki, Managing Director at Panattoni: “Panattoni’s project for Amazon in Gliwice is exceptional in every way. The development process was a huge challenge for us, both organizationally and logistically. I hope we have managed to prove yet again that we are the right partner to deliver the most complex projects, as can also be seen from the award for the Best Warehouse Development at the HOF Awards.

The building developed by Panattoni has been provided with an intelligent building management system (BMS) and motion sensors in different zones. The strong points of the facility are not limited to its size and range of functionalities, but also include compliance with the most stringent environmental standards. The building has undergone an environmental certification process under the BREEAM scheme, qualifying for a Very Good rating. The green technologies which were taken into consideration in the certification process include systems minimising water consumption and LED lighting. As Dobrzycki goes on to say: “The experience gained in projects of this nature has led to the development of Panattoni’s new strategy – Go Earthwise, implementing concepts of sustainable development. We have created a new standard for warehouse parks in Europe, minimising their impact on the natural environment. We have implemented numerous new solutions – the new look of the façade, enhanced insulation and airtightness of walls and roofs, attention to the well-being of the people working at the parks, and land stewardship, resulting in standard BREEAM certification of all newly built facilities at Panattoni parks, now with a Very Good rating.”

The HOF Awards 2020 will attract more than 800 real estate professionals from across the region, showcasing the most influential companies and leaders active in the market. The HOF Awards are an extension of the longest-running property awards tradition in Central and Eastern Europe – the CIJ Awards. The first edition of the competition took place in 2001 and now includes the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia / SEE and Slovakia.
